TRADITIONAL CHARACTER. MODERN PRODUCTION.
Before working with Eagle Signs, Evans Bros had relied on the skill of a traditional sign painter to create the distinctive livery seen across its vehicles. When the time came to move towards a modern production process, the objective was not to replace that established character—it was to preserve it.
The familiar combination of sweeping red, orange and yellow coachlines, traditional lettering and carefully positioned details had already become an important part of the fleet’s identity. Our role was to translate that visual style into accurate digital artwork that could be reproduced consistently across modern vehicles, without losing the personality of the original signwritten finish.
PRESERVING AN ESTABLISHED IDENTITY
The process began by studying the existing livery, including its proportions, colours, linework and positioning. These elements were then carefully recreated as digital artwork and adapted to suit the contours and construction of each new vehicle.
While every cab, trailer and tipper body presents a different set of dimensions, panels and obstructions, the finished vehicles must still feel unmistakably part of the same fleet. Creating a reliable digital artwork system allows the design to be scaled and adjusted for different vehicle makes and body configurations while retaining the same recognisable appearance.
The result combines the character associated with traditional signwriting with the accuracy, consistency and flexibility of modern vehicle-graphics production.
FROM ARTWORK TO THE ROAD
Each project begins with the vehicle specification and the requirements for the individual livery. Measurements and reference information are gathered before the artwork is adapted to the vehicle and presented for approval.
Once approved, the graphics are prepared and produced in-house. The individual elements are carefully positioned and applied by our fitting team, working around doors, windows, body lines and vehicle fittings to create a finish that feels properly integrated with the vehicle.
This process enables us to maintain a consistent fleet identity while providing the dependable turnaround required when commercial vehicles need to be placed into service.
A LONG-STANDING WORKING RELATIONSHIP
Our work with Evans Bros has continued across numerous vehicles and generations of fleet equipment. Although vehicle designs and production technology have changed over the years, the essential character of the livery has remained.
It is a strong example of how traditional design and modern production can work together. The outcome is still the same: distinctive, carefully executed vehicle signwriting that carries a company’s identity wherever the work takes it.
Only now, the process is faster, more adaptable and easier to reproduce consistently across an expanding fleet.
